About Makerstead
When the invoice closes and the job ends, the bench usually loses the piece.
Makerstead is the after-sale connection for physical work — one QR-linked record per piece, written once by the maker and reachable by every owner who scans it.
For most physical businesses — makers, builders, installers, and service shops — the relationship ends at the invoice. The piece leaves the bench or the install wraps, and from that moment on, the business rarely hears from the owner again. Ten years later, when the next owner needs care, repair, or a hand, they have no way to find the people who made the work or know the history of it.
Makerstead keeps that line open. One record per piece, one printable QR card per hand-off, and one direct thread from the owner to the bench that doesn't depend on email archives, CRM lookups, or the original buyer's memory.
We built it because, ten years from now, the most useful thing a shop can hand a buyer isn't a card, a receipt, or a guarantee — it's a way to find the shop again, with the record of the work already on hand.
What Makerstead does
Two outcomes from one record.
For a subscribing business
Same QR, same care page, same durable thread — three concrete outcomes for the bench after the sale.
Capture every customer at handoff.
The QR travels with the piece, the install, or the service job — so the bench keeps a thread to every owner who walks out the door, not just the ones who remember to call back.
Stay connected through repairs, maintenance, and repeat work.
Owner notes land on the record and email the bench in real time; the business replies through its own channels (email, scheduling, invoicing) without losing the thread of the original piece.
A durable record across ownership changes.
The next owner of the same piece scans the same QR and lands on the care page the maker already wrote — the business stays reachable as the work changes hands.
For the customer
One scan reaches everything they need — care information, documents, service history, and the maker or installer themselves. No app to download, no account to create, no sign-up at all; the record travels with the piece, not with the buyer.
Our mission
Keep the handoff legible across ownership changes.
Our mission is to keep makers, builders, installers, and service businesses connected to the work they handed off — through repairs, maintenance, and repeat work, long after the sale. Every record Makerstead produces is a quiet, durable line that travels with the piece from the bench to its next owner.

Honest about scope
What Makerstead is not.
We only win when the boundary is clear. Four things we deliberately stay out of:
Not an authentication service.
Makerstead does not grade authenticity, provenance, or value. Your business’s reputation is — and stays — yours.
Not a warranty arbiter.
We don’t adjudicate disputes. Makerstead delivers the owner’s message and history to you — you decide what’s due.
Not an appraisal tool.
No estimates of resale value, no insurance-side numbers, no auction-house data. The item you made or installed is yours to describe.
Not a regulatory product-passport.
Makerstead is not built to satisfy EU digital-product-passport regulation. We track what you and the owner share with each other — and nothing else.
How it works at a glance
One desk. One queue. One handoff that lands.
Three steady pieces turn the record a business hands off into a thread that survives its next owner.
01
One care page per record
Every piece a business makes or installs gets a public care page — the record a business hands off, written by the business and findable by anyone who scans the QR.
02
One QR card per hand-off
At the bench, the counter, or the install, the business prints a QR card tucked into the handover. The next owner scans it and lands on the same care page the business filled out.
03
One service log per lifetime
Customer inquiries are stored on the record and emailed to the business when they arrive; the business's response lives in the maker's normal systems (email, CRM, scheduling, invoicing) — and the durable care-page content stays with the record as it changes hands.
